Listen to my solarpunk playlist on Spotify!
This is a soundtrack, subject to change, for a yet to be constructed future. While I don’t agree with everything in, for example, A Solarpunk Manifesto, I do find a lot of the themes inspiring. Optimistic futurism is rare, and genuinely good ideas even more so. I love that solarpunks seem to be people who care about a future that is more beautiful when considered from every perspective — not just the human one. I believe that art and societal change are tightly linked, and tend to exert a magnetic pull on each other. Solarpunk is valuable because it asserts a set of goals mediated by an appeal to beauty. It pulls you into its world of possibilities first, and then leads you to consider what it would take to get to such a place from where we are now.
There is of course much more to say about it, but I will let the playlist speak for itself. Imagine exploring a solarpunk city in the not-so-distant future, and if you agree it’s a beautiful place, let’s see what we can do to make it real.
